Dagmara Lauk is a Polish-born, New England-raised multi-faceted artist and designer. She leads a vibrant creative life making art and consulting with brands on visual imagery, creative direction, forecasting, design and presentation.
While designing luxury handbags for some of the most renowned names in the accessories world, her role took a natural shift from that of a DO IT ALL designer to one of an image creator and stylist leading to an entirely new direction on her path.
It is out of that space, that her fertile imagination and love for Still Life dares to reinvent the relationship to the mundane, familiar and overlooked by highlighting the unique essence that resides and craves to be expressed by all things. Through her art, food and prop styling she explores themes of interconnectivity, codependence, support, play, balance and ones own shadow.
Alongside image making Dagmara pours herself into a daily studio practice of creating out of secondary landfill bound materials. Sometimes designing and sewing but mostly sculpting in her inventive process of encapsulating plastics and post consumer waist products and transforming them into imaginative new forms in a language entirely of their own - playfully named D’sPLAY (dee·splay).
"Sometimes you have to play a long time to be able to play like yourself" ~ Miles Davis
